Thank you for providing my family and me with such healthy and delicious chicken meat. I made the oven fried chicken from Linda's recipe for dinner tonight. It was a huge success. Cody said that I have to make chicken that way every time now.

    From foodincmovie.com:

In Food, Inc., filmmaker Robert Kenner lifts the veil on our nation’s food industry, exposing the highly mechanized underbelly that has been hidden from the American consumer with the consent of our government’s regulatory agencies, USDA and FDA. Our nation’s food supply is now controlled by a handful of corporations [...]

Yesterday and today I had a lot of help from my mom. THANK YOU MOM!! We made fermented sauerkraut with whey, and we canned beets, pickled cucumbers, pickled squash, regular squash, dilled cucumbers and onions, and dilled pickled green tomatoes. We canned a total of 48 jars not counting the sauerkraut. That’s not too bad [...]

Welcome to In Pastures Green!

What is In Pastures Green all about?

We are first about joyfully raising and training our eight children to be faithful, mature and responsible people in this up and coming generation.

Second, we are in the business of healing the land through producing environmentally responsible, clean, and delicious food for your table.

Our commitment:

As stewards of our environment and farm, we are committed to the following old-world practices:

Our farm is gmo-free, ge-free, pesticide-free, herbicide-free, chlorine-free, antibiotic-free, hormone-free, just plain old chemical-free, and is entirely grass based.

Our animals rotationally graze on green pastures.  We fertilize the old fashion way, with compost and manure.  The animals that receive grain are fed certified organic, soy-free grains.

Our animals are treated lovingly and humanely. We try as much as possible to provide a habitat that closely resembles the animals natural environment while protecting them from predators.

Where is In Pastures Green located?

We are located in Ferndale, Washington.  Just south of the Canadian border, in between the Pacific Ocean and beautiful Mt. Baker.  Only 98 miles north of Seattle, and just 5 miles from Interstate 5 in between Bellingham and Ferndale.

The scientists will tell us that farming is a constant fight against nature, for left to itself any farm would revert to primevel forest, but that comes from being concerned with pulling it apart and studying some small detail, which makes his conception of the whole no more satisfying than a comedian’s description of married life.  Just as a marriage is a partnership in the business of living, so is farming a unison between man’s labour and the soil.  Quite rightly, it is called husbandry, which implies loving care.  ~ George Henderson, 1950
